minneapolis (August 15, 2006) – Hinkley Bakery in Jackson, Mich., was awarded a $2,500 first prize in General Mills’ “Free for All” Sweepstakes. Brian Hinkley, owner of Hinkley Bakery, accepted the award presented by General Mills Bakeries & Foodservice during a special recognition event on July 20.

“General Mills is a strong supporter of retail bakeries and is thrilled to award Hinkley Bakery with the sweepstakes’ final $2,500 first prize,” said Tommy Hillman, marketing manager, General Mills Bakeries & Foodservice. “The sweepstakes has allowed General Mills to provide winning operators the means to make a positive impact on their businesses.”

Operators at retail bakeries who entered the “Free for All” Sweepstakes were eligible to win the grand prize of $25,000, plus a trip to the 2006 American Bakery Expo Trade Show, or one of four $2,500 first prizes. Earlier this year, first prizes were awarded to S&S Bakery in San Diego, Calif., Luigi’s Italian Pastry in Bridgeport, Conn., and Donut Dug Out in Pinebrook, N.J.

Winners were selected at random. Nonwinning entries from each first prize drawing were eligible for each subsequent drawing, and first prize winners were eligible to win the grand prize. The sweepstakes ended May 31, 2006. .
